Built to provide whisky for the Teacher’s blend in 1898, this Highlander’s main production is a peated whisky, but there is also a non-peated version called Ardlair (Ardless is its nickname) which accounts for around 40% of its output.
Due to how prominent and significant its role as a base for a blend is, Ardmore is rarely found as a single malt, but a determined few followers seek it out as an independent bottling.
A young peated whisky from the excellent Ardmore distillery, Ardmore traditional Cask has been finished in quarter casks to speed up maturation.
Gold Medal in its category at the World Whisky Awards 2010.
